Lamborghini and Ferrari

Italy’s Cradle of the Engine

{0 Comments}

Lamborghini and Ferrari are machines that transcend the circuits and bolts within them, commanding religious-like reverence from both drivers and dreamers. They also have a famous rivalry that extends beyond the supercars and into the cities behind them too. Bucket Listers will be revved to know they can visit Italy’s Cradle of the Engine – the region of Northern Italy that has given the world incredible cars, and also incredible delights like balsamic vinegar and parmesan cheese. But first the cars. Visit the Lamborghini factory and museum in Bologna, and then head to Maranello in nearby Modena to experience the wonders and history of Ferrari.

Getting There :
The headquarters of Automobili Lamborghini are located in the municipality of Bologna. The Ferrari headquarters are located a short 45-minute drive away via the Via Abetone Superiore in the town of Maranello. Lamborghini Factory tours take place Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm and last 45 minutes.

Note from Robin :
Reservations for guided tours in both headquarters are required. As Ferrari is a substantially larger operation, the museum is way bigger. There is a Formula 1 and pit stop simulator and rotating exhibition, and no shortage of classic cars. As discussed in the book, the rivalry between these two legends has its origins in ego. Chew on this with the incredible food of the area. Look into the excellent Panini Maserati Museum while you're in the area, which also makes world-famous Parmesan cheese.
